Ms de Benito did her ophthalmology training in Madrid, Spain, and underwent further cornea fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and observership at Wills Eye Hospital. She was awarded a PhD for a thesis on corneal wound healing after laser eye surgery in 2007. She worked as a cataract and refractive surgery consultant in Madrid from 2005-2011, as a Senior Clinical Associate at Singapore National Eye Centre for 6 months (2011-2012), and as a consultant at St Thomas’ Hospital in London from 2012 to 2016. She was appointed substantive consultant in the Cornea, External Disease department and Refractive service at Moorfields Eye Hospital in October 2016. In her private practice, she offers vision correction solutions with laser surgery, refractive lens exchange, phakic implants, use of premium lenses (multifocal and toric lenses), apart from cornea and cataract surgeries.
